LANGSTON GOLF COURSE HERITAGE CELEBRATION JUNE 8, 2013

LANGSTON GOLF COURSE HERITAGE CELEBRATION JUNE 8, 2013

Washington, D.C. --- Langston Golf Course will celebrate its recent induction into the National Black Golf Hall of Fame by hosting the Langston Heritage Celebration on Saturday, June 8, 2013.  The celebration is of notable importance given its prominent place in history, the connection of African American golfers and the community it strives to bring together.  This commemorative event will consist of storytelling panels and interactive golf exhibits.

Golf Course Specialists President Kim Thomas said “It’s exciting that we’ve come together to share in this important celebration. Planning this event has ignited the facility's many connections with the community.  We’ve reunited with old golf clubs and re-discovered many other people who have been part of the fabric of Langston’s legacy.”

The short list of panel speakers scheduled in the program includes golf notables: Dr Calvin Sinnette (Author, Forbidden Fairways), Calvin Peete (NBGHF, 1986), Peter McDaniel (Author, Uneven Lies), Jim Dent (NBGHF, 1992), and Susan Wasser (Assistant Director, USGA Museum).

Event Location: Langston Golf Course, 2600 Benning Road, NE Washington, D.C.  20002

2013 GDSummit in Commercial Real Estate

Attention Students:

The Global Diversity Summit (GDS) in Commercial Real Estate seeks to increase the participation of minorities in commercial real estate. The annual conference is a major networking event, with approximately 500 commercial real estate professionals in attendance each year. It is an outstanding chance to explore the opportunity for internships or permanent positions at prominent real estate companies such as Jones Lang LaSalle, Duke Realty, Wells Fargo, Cassidy Turley, and Wal-Mart, to name a few. Many of the participating firms are minority-owned businesses, such as MacFarlane Partners, UrbanAmerica, and Red Rock Global.

As part of our outreach effort, you are invited to apply to attend the 6th annual Global Diversity Summit as our guest. This year’s selected GDS Scholars will be offered complimentary admission to all the Summit activities as well as a stipend to offset travel expenses to the event. Additionally, all students selected as part of the 2013 GDS Scholar class will be entered into a scholarship competition with an in-person award at the conference of $5,000. More information on the Summit scholarship competition will be available upon your selection as a GDS Scholar. Additionally, as a selected GDS Scholar, you will be invited to each year’s Global Diversity Summit, have access to executive-level professionals in various aspects of the commercial real estate industry, and be part of a growing alumni network base.
